BREEDING OF TURKMEN ALABAY AND GRAYS: HISTORY, CULTURE AND ART
5On October 24, 2025, the V International scientific conference entitled “Breeding of Turkmen Alabai and Greyhounds: History, Culture and Art” was held at the Turkmen Agricultural University named after S.A. Niyazov in honor of the Turkmen Alabai holiday. The participants of the scientific conference first viewed an exhibition of our national treasures, works of art and books, organized in the cultural center of the university, which demonstrates the high respect for the Turkmen Alabai and Greyhounds, which are the national pride of the Turkmen people.
The representatives of the Scientific-Research Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan, the International Association of Turkmen Alabai Dogs, the Magtymguly Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, the State Museum of the State Cultural Center, professors and teachers of higher educational institutions of our country attended this conference. Also, master dog breeders of Turkmenistan, cynologists, specialists of modern dog breeding centers, as well as young people studying in the cynology department of the Turkmen Agricultural University named after S.A. Niyazov attended the conference.
The conference highlighted the unique value and national pride of the Turkmen Alabai, the national practice of breeding Alabai, their characteristic features.
As it was noted in the reports, large-scale work is being carried out to breed Turkmen Alabais, which have become the pride of our people, their national pride, to spread their fame throughout the world, and to continuously develop the art of dog breeding. In this regard, the far-sighted efforts and positive initiatives of our Arkadagly Hero Serdar are of great importance. The organization of the association and the holding of the International Competition "Turkmen Brave Alabai of the Year", the holding of an exhibition and an international scientific conference demonstrate that our country is carrying out effective work to preserve the purity of the Turkmen Alabai breed, increase its population, and spread its fame throughout the world.
During the period of the Revival of the new era of the powerful state, fundamental reforms are being carried out in our country to develop the dog breeding industry. The legal basis for the protection of Alabais has been improved, and the Law of Turkmenistan “On Dog Breeding and Cynological Work” has been adopted. The Turkmen Alabai — Vepaly was chosen as the symbol of the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.
The speakers noted that our Hero Arkadag, in his book “Turkmen Alabai”, in the poem “Turkmen Alabai”, paid special attention to our national values. In this book, the National Leader emphasizes that Alabais embody the most outstanding qualities of the Turkmen people. These qualities are courage, bravery, loyalty and nobility. The development of the national art of dog breeding in the country, the research work on trout, the study of their history and characteristics, new scientific information aroused great interest among the participants of the meeting.
The participants of the V International scientific conference entitled "Cultivation of Turkmen sorghum: history, culture and art" watched the festive performances prepared by the "Altyn Asyr" cultural center of the Turkmen Agricultural University named after S.A. Niyazov.
