REPRESENTATIVES OF THE XINZHANG-UYGUR AUTONOMOUS REGION OF CHINA WERE HOSTS AT OUR UNIVERSITY
2In the International Year of Peace and Trust, when the 30th anniversary of the permanent neutrality of our independent country is widely celebrated internationally, great successes are being achieved in the development of international cooperation in the fields of agriculture and education, among other areas. From June 29 to July 2, 2025, a delegation led by Wang Gang, Deputy Chairman of the People's Government of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China, will visit our country. The purpose of the visit is to discuss future directions of bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector, trade and economic sectors.
As part of the visit, a meeting with representatives of the People's Republic of China was held at the S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University on June 30. Representatives of the People’s Government of the Xinjiang-Uyghur Autonomous Region, the Department of Water Resources, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Academy of Animal Husbandry, the Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Xinjiang Agricultural University, agricultural, biotechnology, trade and business companies, attended it.
The guests first viewed an exhibition of agricultural products and projects related to various fields of agricultural sciences organized at the S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University, which is considered the oldest higher educational institution in our country. The exhibition also showcased the achievements of the university's students, including diplomas and medals.
As noted at the meeting, with the efforts of the esteemed Heads of State of the two countries, the strategies of Turkmenistan's "Revival of the Great Silk Road" and China's "One Belt, One Road" are being implemented in harmony. As noted by the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Great Silk Road connected continents in the past. Turkmenistan, as the heart and driving force of this international trade and cultural route, has taken a leading place on the stage of history. The knowledge and experience exchanged through the restored Great Silk Road, cultural ties help jointly achieve high heights.
The scope of Turkmen-Chinese scientific and educational relations is expanding. For example, Chinese youth actively participated in international forums, competitions organized by the Turkmen Agricultural University, including the international scientific and project competition organized this year. Our representatives have visited China in different years.
Then, the higher education institution and its achievements were discussed. It was noted that the Turkmen Agricultural University was the first in our country to be accepted into the membership of the Union of Silk Road Universities established in the People's Republic of China.
As our esteemed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted: “The agricultural sector of the country is one of the main branches of the national economy. We firmly connect the development of the agricultural complex with science and high technologies,” our sovereign pays special attention to combining research work with production in agricultural higher education institutions and expanding the scope of international scientific cooperation. Along with the research work of the university departments, research work is being carried out on a number of topics included in the program of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan. In the Year of International Peace and Trust, international cooperation of our university is being further expanded.
The guests were introduced to the characteristics and opportunities of the Xinjiang- Uygur Autonomous Region, and noted their great interest in developing mutually beneficial relations in the future.
